WHEN I MOVED INTO THIS UNIT, MY PLAIN WHITE WALLS WENT FROM “BLEH” TO “MEH, NOT SO BAD“ BY ADDING A GALLERY WALL THAT INCLUDES PIECES OF MY OWN WORK, AS WELL AS MY GRANDFATHER’S.
WITH THE ADDITION OF SOME CONCRETE PEEL-AND-STICK WALLPAPER AND D.I.Y WOOD SLATS, MY DRAB WALLS WENT FROM MUMBLING “BLEH” AND “MEH, NOT SO BAD” TO SCREAMING “WOW”!

Instructions
1.) First off, Search for INSPo
Peruse your favorite Home websites, and social media such as Pinterest, Instagram, and TikTok to get those creative juices flowing! I particularly had luck with Pinterest and found some inspiration from @everythingeryn via Instagram.
2.) Research Various D.I.Y methods
Once you have a vision in your head, start researching different methods for how to complete your project that best works with your skillset and budget. The method I used is a modified version of this Pin.
3.) Measure, Measure, and Measure again
It is SO important that you measure throughout your creative journey to ensure that you have the proper amount of space and materials needed to complete your project. (Thanks to Prime shipping when I underestimated how much wallpaper I needed!)
4.) Time to source those products
Once you have figured out which method to execute your project will work best and taken your initial measurements, start looking for those products! I was able to find all my building products at Home Depot and my wallpaper from Amazon.
5.) Prep those materials for creation
Before staining or assembling my D.I.Y slat wall, I needed to sand down each piece of wood to ensure a smooth surface, and to make the staining process easier. (ProTip: use an electric sander and start with a smaller grit such as 60 and work up to 120)
6.) It is finally time to build it
Once you have prepped your materials and measured once more, it it time to put those pieces together! Make sure your prep space is large enough to comfortably work in and large enough for the completed product.
7.) Prep your installation space
With this installation going on my bedroom wall, I needed to move a few furniture pieces around just enough to fit a ladder. If you are using peel-and-stick wallpaper, take the time to do a light dusting of your wall and ensure there are no large bumps.
8.) bring your vision to lfe
Once you have prepped your space, it is finally time to bring that vision to life! I first applied the peel-and-stick wallpaper, then the wood slats, and finally the gallery wall of me and my Grandfathers artwork.
